Actress Kashmera Shah has come out in support of her maternal aunt-in-law Sunita Ahuja amid renewed speculation surrounding Sunita’s relationship with her husband, actor Govinda.
Kashmera, who was previously involved in a prolonged family dispute with Sunita, said she would stand by the women in her family and protect them “no matter what”.
Speaking to paparazzi outside actor Abhishek Kumar’s birthday party on Monday evening, Kashmera expressed frustration over questions about the couple’s personal life.
“When they have left each other, why don’t you leave them alone? Why are you asking this question?” she said.
Kashmera then defended Sunita, noting that she had generally avoided speaking publicly about issues within the family.
“I am with Sunita. She has never raised her voice earlier. She has never said that this is wrong, that is wrong, but if she is saying it today, so there must be something wrong,” Kashmera said.
“I will be standing with all the ladies of my family. I will protect my family no matter what,” she added.
Kashmera’s remarks come months after she and Sunita appeared to put their earlier differences behind them. Their strained relationship had kept the two women apart for years before they publicly reunited with Krushna Abhishek on the sets of “Laughter Chefs”.
Sunita was seen embracing Kashmera during the reunion, signalling a thaw in their relationship.
The latest controversy comes amid renewed public attention on Govinda and Sunita’s marriage. Recent reports have claimed that the couple have unfollowed each other on Instagram, though neither has publicly confirmed the reason for the reported development.
