Four civilians have allegedly been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces in Balochistan, according to Paank, the human rights department of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), amid continuing allegations of rights violations in the province.
Paank said labourer Kamal Baloch was taken away by Pakistani security forces during a raid in the Talamb area of Mand region on August 20. His family has reportedly received no information about his whereabouts or condition since his disappearance.
The rights organisation called for authorities to immediately disclose Kamal Baloch’s whereabouts and ensure his safety. It said he should either be released or, if there are legitimate criminal allegations against him, produced before a competent civilian court and given due process.
Paank also condemned the reported disappearance of three Baloch civilians — Rafiq Baloch, Shakir Baloch and Shakir’s wife, Gull Banok — during a midnight raid in Awaran district last month. The organisation said the three were taken to an undisclosed location and denied contact with their families and access to legal counsel.
Paank described the reported disappearance of a woman alongside two men as particularly concerning and said it reflected the risks faced by civilians during security operations in Balochistan.
The organisation urged the United Nations, international human rights groups, governments and rights defenders to raise the cases with Pakistan and demand an end to enforced disappearances in the province.
Separately, the BNM held a protest march in Germany’s Gottingen on Sunday over reported Pakistan Air Force strikes in Balochistan’s Surab district. The organisation claimed the strikes killed more than 30 civilians, including women and children, and injured several others. The claims could not be independently verified.
The protesters called on the European Union, the UN and the international community to respond to reports of civilian casualties and alleged human rights violations in Balochistan.
