Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Monday said Mohali was poised to become a leading IT hub, with the state emerging as a major destination for Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital innovation and Global Capability Centres (GCCs).
Mann made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation of the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) in Chandigarh, where he outlined the state government’s efforts to attract technology-driven investment and generate employment opportunities for Punjab’s youth.
Sharing a video snippet of the meeting on X, the Chief Minister said Punjab was developing an ecosystem supported by world-class infrastructure, a skilled talent pool, lower business costs, Invest Punjab and the new GCC Policy 2026. He said Mohali was rapidly emerging as a preferred technology destination in North India.
Mann said the Tricity offered companies access to a substantial pool of skilled engineering, technology and management professionals, enabling them to build specialised teams. He also highlighted the presence of reputed institutions, including IIT and ISB, and said six universities were located in and around Mohali.
The Chief Minister said Mohali’s infrastructure, including air, rail and road connectivity, international airport access, medical facilities, educational institutions and availability of land, made it attractive for global companies and technology-focused investments. He added that interest was growing among leading IT companies in establishing GCCs and digital firms in the city.
Inviting NASSCOM to partner with Punjab, Mann said the organisation could contribute to strengthening the state’s startup and innovation ecosystem through the state-of-the-art Startup Incubator in Mohali.
He also highlighted Punjab’s efforts to deploy AI-based solutions in agriculture. The state has joined hands with Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), IIT Ropar and the Union Ministry of Agriculture to work on smart farming models, precision agriculture tools and predictive analytics aimed at improving farm yields and sustainability.
Mann said Punjab was the first state in the country to enact the Right to Business Act, which he said had simplified the process of establishing operations for entrepreneurs. He also cited the state’s Single Window System and end-to-end digitised public service delivery as measures aimed at making it easier for businesses to invest, operate and expand.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government was working to strengthen Punjab’s investment ecosystem, promote technology-driven growth and create more employment opportunities for young people.
Industries and Commerce and Investment Promotion Minister Aman Arora, Chief Secretary KAP Sinha and other officials were present at the meeting.
