Kashi Rudras batter Abhishek Goswami has been suspended for one match, while two other players have been fined for breaching the Code of Conduct during the UP T20 League match between Kashi Rudras and Noida Kings at Green Park Stadium.
The disciplinary actions relate to Match 23 of the tournament, in which Kashi Rudras defeated Noida Kings by 67 runs. Rudras captain Karan Sharma was the standout performer, smashing 102 off 51 balls with 11 boundaries and five sixes.
Goswami was handed a Level 3 offence for breaching Clause 2.17, which covers threatening or assaulting another player, team official, umpire, match referee or spectator. As a result, he will miss Kashi Rudras’ upcoming match against Meerut Mavericks.
The batter was also found guilty of a separate Level 1 breach under Clause 2.3 for using audible obscenity during the match and was fined 40 per cent of his match fee.
Meanwhile, Rajput was penalised for a Level 1 violation of Clause 2.5 after using language, actions or gestures that disparaged or provoked an aggressive reaction from a batter following his dismissal.
Noida Kings player Tyagi was also fined for a Level 1 breach of Clause 2.4 for failing to comply with an umpire’s instruction during the match.
All three players have been formally informed about the disciplinary sanctions imposed on them.
UPCA Media Committee Chairman Mohammed Faheem said the tournament authorities would continue to take a firm stance against unsporting conduct.
“The UPCA and the UP T20 League hold the integrity of the sport in the highest regard. We have clear guidelines in place to ensure fair play, and we do not entertain any behaviour that disrupts the decorum of the game,” Faheem said.
He added that players were expected to uphold professional standards as representatives of the sport, saying the sanctions demonstrated the tournament’s commitment to enforcing its disciplinary guidelines.
