India’s Priya secured the women’s 60kg boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after overcoming Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh in a closely contested final in Glasgow on Saturday.
Priya won the bout by a 4-1 split decision, displaying composure and tactical intelligence to recover after a challenging opening round. She gradually took control with sharp combinations, effective counter-attacks and improved movement inside the ring.
The judges’ scorecards reflected the intensity of the contest. Three judges awarded the fight to Priya with scores of 29-28, 29-28 and 30-27, while one judge gave the verdict to the Canadian boxer. The split decision ultimately went in favour of the Indian.
Maintaining her calm under pressure, Priya matched her opponent’s aggression and produced decisive exchanges in the later stages of the bout. Her disciplined defence and accurate punching helped her secure India’s latest boxing gold medal in Glasgow.
The victory added to India’s remarkable boxing campaign at the Commonwealth Games 2026. Priya joined Sakshi, Jaismine and Preeti, who had already won gold medals earlier in the day, as Indian women boxers continued their dominant run.
Sakshi claimed the women’s 51kg title after defeating England’s Ruby White by a unanimous 5-0 decision, while Jaismine secured gold in the women’s 57kg category with a similar 5-0 victory over Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh.
Preeti also produced a commanding performance in the women’s 54kg final, defeating Canada’s S.S. Delgado by a unanimous 5-0 decision.
Priya’s triumph further strengthened India’s historic boxing performance at Glasgow 2026, with the country’s pugilists continuing to deliver outstanding results across weight categories.
