Ahead of Friendship Day, actors Shubhangi Latkar and Indira Krishna of Zee TV’s show ‘Ganga Mai Ki Betiyan’ spoke about the importance of female friendships and the unique bond shared by their characters.
Shubhangi Latkar, who plays Ganga Mai in the show, said the relationship between Ganga Mai and Durgawati reflects how two women with contrasting personalities can build a strong connection based on trust and understanding.
She said the characters represent different approaches to life, with Durgawati being outspoken and fearless, while Ganga Mai is calm, patient and compassionate. According to Shubhangi, the show explores a friendship where both women choose to support each other despite their differences.
She added that television has often focused on relationships such as family and romance, but friendships between women are rarely portrayed with similar depth.
Indira Krishna, who plays Durgawati, said the friendship between the two characters stands out because they continue to support each other despite their contrasting personalities.
She described Durgawati as a strong and outspoken woman who fights for Ganga’s rights with the same determination she would show for herself. She added that Ganga’s faith and trust in Durgawati make their bond special.
The actors said the show highlights the emotional strength, support and warmth that can define friendships between women.
