Uttarakhand and Chandigarh secured victories in Division B, while Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Hockey Punjab and Hockey Association of Odisha recorded wins in Division A on the fifth day of the 16th Hockey India Junior Men National Championship 2026 at the Coimbatore Hockey Ground on Saturday.
In the opening Division B match, Hockey Uttarakhand produced a dominant performance to defeat Hockey Jammu & Kashmir 4-0. Vishal Kumar scored twice in the ninth and 51st minutes, while Ankit and Prince Bhandari added goals in the 41st and 57th minutes respectively to complete a comfortable win.
Hockey Chandigarh also registered a victory in Division B, beating Hockey Arunachal 4-2. Gurjeet Singh and Gurpreet Singh scored two goals each for Chandigarh, while Mohd Atif and Samar Ali found the net for Arunachal.
In Division A action, Uttar Pradesh Hockey edged past Hockey Bengal 2-1 in a closely fought contest. Captain Rahul Rajbhar gave Uttar Pradesh an early lead in the seventh minute before Sah Suraj Kumar levelled the score for Bengal in the 41st minute. Prajapati Neeraj scored the winning goal in the 57th minute.
Hockey Punjab recorded one of the biggest wins of the day, defeating Delhi Hockey 6-2. Amandeep and Jobanpreet Singh scored two goals each, while Charanjeet Singh and Prince Singh contributed one goal apiece. Delhi Hockey’s goals came through Kunal Singh Chhikara, who scored twice.
In another Division A encounter, Hockey Association of Odisha defeated Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey 4-2. Odisha took the lead through Bilkan Oram, but Prashant Rajput and Himanshu Yadav put their opponents ahead. Odisha captain Deepak Pradhan then scored twice before Deonath Nanwar sealed the victory with a late goal.
