Fresh from winning a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026, Indian boxer Jaismine Lamboria has played down talks of a possible biopic on her life, saying several other athletes are more deserving of such recognition.
Speaking to IANS after her historic achievement in Glasgow, Jaismine said she had never considered having a film made on her journey and expressed her desire to see stories of other Indian sportspersons being highlighted.
“I haven’t even thought about it. There are many athletes in India who are better than me. I would like biopics to be made on them. I take inspiration from all of them. My focus right now is only on sport,” Jaismine said.
The 24-year-old boxer said her priority remains improving her performance and achieving more success for the country rather than seeking personal recognition.
Jaismine’s comments came after she delivered a memorable campaign at the Commonwealth Games, adding another major title to her growing list of achievements. The Indian Army employee has already won a World Championship gold medal in Liverpool in 2025, two World Boxing Cup titles over the last two years, besides bronze medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2021 Asian Championships in Dubai.
Her latest triumph further strengthens her position among India’s leading boxers, but Jaismine said she remains motivated by the achievements of fellow athletes and wants to continue focusing on her sporting career.
