A biker and social media content creator from Murshidabad district, popularly known online as ‘Suman Rider’, died in a road accident while returning home from Kolkata, police said on Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Suman Sheikh, son of Salam Sheikh, was a resident of Benidaspur village under Daulatabad police station limits in Murshidabad. He had built a significant following on social media through his bike-riding content.
According to police, Suman had travelled to Kolkata for content creation work and was returning to Murshidabad on his motorcycle late on Thursday night after completing his assignment. The accident occurred near the Krishnanagar police station area in Nadia district.
Preliminary investigation suggested that Suman lost control of his motorcycle while riding at high speed and fell on the road, suffering severe injuries. Local residents rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police officials said the rider may have died at the accident spot. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and his family has been informed about the incident.
The accident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety among motorcycle enthusiasts and content creators who often travel long distances for filming and online content.
Last month, another biker-content creator, Debahuti Banerjee from Dhakuria in South Kolkata, died after a road accident in West Midnapore district. She was part of a group of riders returning from Odisha when her motorcycle reportedly lost balance after hitting a pothole near Kharagpur.
