Baba Ramdev condemns remarks against Bhagwa, Sanatan heritage; calls for peaceful protests

Noida, August 1, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev on Saturday said that remarks or actions targeting Bhagwa (saffron), sants, Lord Ram or any aspect of Sanatan heritage were highly objectionable and amounted to a serious offence.

His comments came after Independent MP Pappu Yadav staged a symbolic protest in Parliament, dressed in saffron attire, over alleged irregularities related to donations for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Several Opposition MPs, including Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, participated in the demonstration, which sought a discussion on the issue.

The protest was presented in the form of a street play, with MPs portraying devotees making donations into collection boxes while Yadav acted as a priest accused of keeping the money instead of depositing it. The symbolic act was aimed at highlighting allegations of misuse of temple donations.

Reacting to the demonstration, Baba Ramdev told IANS, “Insulting Bhagwa, sants, Bhagwan Ram, or any part of our Sanatan heritage is highly objectionable and a heinous offence.”

Addressing questions on protests over the NEET paper leak issue, Ramdev said demonstrations should not involve abusive language or actions that go against Indian cultural values.

He said society should encourage constructive thinking among young people and focus on developing skills rather than promoting negativity or destructive behaviour. He added that both governments and citizens have responsibilities in creating a responsible social environment.

Ramdev also stressed that protests should remain within democratic and constitutional boundaries, saying movements that turn anarchic often fail to achieve meaningful outcomes and may create further problems.

“Any form of anarchy in the name of protest should stop. If we have to oppose something, it should be done through democratic and constitutional means while upholding human values,” he said.
