Air Marshal Tejpal Singh assumed charge as the Deputy Chief of the Air Staff on Saturday, the Ministry of Defence said.
After taking over the key position, Air Marshal Tejpal Singh laid a wreath at the National War Memorial and paid tribute to the personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.
An official statement said Air Marshal Tejpal Singh was commissioned as a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force on June 16, 1990. He has more than 3,500 hours of flying experience and is a Category A Qualified Flying Instructor as well as an Experimental Test Pilot.
During his career, he has held several important operational, command and staff assignments in the Indian Air Force.
In recognition of his distinguished service, he was awarded the Vayu Sena Medal in January 2011 and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in January 2021 by the President of India.
Air Marshal Tejpal Singh succeeds Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, who retired on July 31 after completing 39 years of service.
Meanwhile, Vice Admiral A.N. Pramod also assumed charge as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff on Saturday. He succeeded Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, who retired from service on Friday after a distinguished career.
Vice Admiral Pramod, an alumnus of the 38th Integrated Cadet Course at the Naval Academy, Goa, was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1990. He has also been associated with the Indian Navy’s operational readiness during Operation Sindoor.
According to the Ministry of Defence, Vice Admiral Pramod is a recipient of the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) and Yudh Seva Medal (YSM). He is a Category ‘A’ Sea King Air Operations Officer and a specialist in Communication and Electronic Warfare.
He is also an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and the Naval Higher Command Course at the Naval War College, Goa.
