US President Donald Trump has warned of a forceful American response following what he described as an Iranian missile attack targeting US forces stationed in Jordan, signalling the possibility of further military escalation in the Middle East.
Speaking to Fox News, Trump said the United States would retaliate strongly after the reported attack. Using explicit language, he warned that Iran would face severe consequences and reiterated that Washington would respond decisively.
According to Trump, US air defence systems successfully intercepted the incoming ballistic missiles, preventing them from striking American forces. However, no official details were provided regarding the number of missiles launched, the exact timing of the attack, or whether there were any casualties or damage.
While indicating that military action was imminent, the President did not disclose the timing, scope or targets of any planned US response.
Trump also confirmed that overnight US strikes against Iran-backed militias in Iraq had been carried out in coordination with the Iraqi government. He described the armed groups backed by Tehran as “a cancer on the world,” underscoring his administration’s hardline stance against Iranian-aligned organisations operating across the region.
The President linked the reported missile attack in Jordan to the broader security threat posed by Iran and its regional allies. However, he did not clarify whether the US military operations against Iran-backed militias in Iraq took place before or after the reported missile launch.
The latest remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with repeated confrontations involving US forces and Iran-backed groups raising concerns about the risk of a wider regional conflict.
