Filmmaker Subhash Ghai has shared a reflective message inspired by the teachings of Sant Kabir, highlighting the importance of inner peace, self-awareness and understanding life during difficult times.
The ‘Taal’ director took to Instagram to share verses associated with the revered mystic poet and said Kabir’s teachings continue to hold relevance in today’s world, particularly when people face stress and uncertainty.
Sharing a picture of Sant Kabir, Ghai wrote about the need to revisit the poet’s wisdom to find calm and clarity while navigating challenges.
He also referred to Kabir’s philosophy of compassion and neutrality, quoting the message that one should wish well for everyone without creating divisions based on personal attachments or conflicts.
Sant Kabir, who was born near Benares, is remembered as one of India’s most influential mystic poets. His writings drew from both Hindu and Islamic traditions, while also questioning social and religious rigidities.
This is not the first time Ghai has spoken about spiritual influences in his life. Earlier, the filmmaker had expressed gratitude towards spiritual teacher Osho, saying his writings helped him understand himself and life more deeply.
Recalling his association with Osho’s teachings, Ghai had said that he discovered the value of having a spiritual guide after reading Osho’s works in 1975. He credited the experience with helping him develop a greater sense of peace and personal growth.
The Osho movement, which gained prominence in the 1970s, focused on meditation, mindfulness, self-awareness and personal freedom.
Subhash Ghai, one of Hindi cinema’s prominent filmmakers and producers, is known for directing several successful films, including ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Saudagar’, ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Pardes’ and ‘Taal’.
