Punjab Police on Thursday conducted 611 raids across the state as part of its ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, arresting 310 individuals and intensifying its crackdown on organised crime.
The anti-gangster operation, launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, entered its 191st day with coordinated action by district police units and the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) at identified locations linked to gangsters and their associates.
According to official information, police teams seized 12 weapons during the raids. With the latest action, the total number of arrests under the campaign has reached 54,514.
Police also initiated preventive action against 209 individuals and arrested five proclaimed offenders during the day’s operation.
Punjab Police reiterated its appeal to the public to anonymously share information about gangsters, wanted criminals and other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, the state’s anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ continued on its 516th day, with police arresting 101 alleged drug smugglers across Punjab.
During the operation, police recovered 1.1 kg of heroin, 900 grams of opium, 1,747 intoxicant tablets and capsules, and Rs 1,300 in suspected drug money.
With the latest arrests, the total number of alleged drug smugglers apprehended under the campaign has reached 74,995.
As part of its de-addiction initiative, Punjab Police also motivated 16 individuals to undergo treatment and rehabilitation for substance abuse.
