Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Central Government, alleging that its priorities were misplaced and calling for leadership focused on long-term development, innovation and governance.
In a statement issued by the party, Kejriwal criticised the reported police action against students over social media posts allegedly mocking Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said such actions reflected a misplaced focus at a time when the country should be concentrating on scientific progress, infrastructure and economic development.
Referring to China’s reported advancements in nuclear fusion technology, Kejriwal claimed that while China was working towards developing an “artificial sun” capable of producing clean energy, India’s leadership was preoccupied with filing FIRs against young students over social media activity.
The former Delhi Chief Minister also alleged that the Union Government had failed to address basic civic challenges. He said many cities continue to struggle with waterlogging after rainfall, inadequate roads and bridges, and poor sanitation, adding that these issues require greater administrative attention.
Kejriwal further accused the Central Government of concentrating on political manoeuvring instead of governance. He alleged that the ruling establishment was engaged in efforts to topple elected governments, secure the support of legislators and manipulate the electoral process through deletion of genuine voters and inclusion of fake voters.
Stating that India must aspire to greater achievements, the AAP leader said the country now requires leadership with vision and the ability to think beyond day-to-day political battles. He maintained that national priorities should centre on technological innovation, infrastructure development, quality public services and improving citizens’ lives.
