Iran has strongly condemned an alleged US strike on a residential neighbourhood on Qeshm Island in the country’s south, claiming the attack killed three civilians, including a two-year-old child, and damaged several homes.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei described the incident as a “criminal attack” in a post on social media, identifying the victims as taxi driver Qaisar Jafari, his wife Zahra Jafari, and their young son Sina.
According to Baghaei, the strike targeted residential homes and resulted in civilian casualties. He accused the United States of carrying out actions that, he said, resembled terrorist violence and asserted that such attacks would not weaken Iran’s resolve.
Baghaei further stated that military strikes, sanctions, threats and attacks on civilians would only strengthen national unity and reinforce the country’s determination to defend its sovereignty, rights and independence.
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf also denounced the reported strike, calling it another attack on civilian residential areas. He accused the United States of targeting innocent people and warned that those responsible would face consequences.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a separate statement warning of what it described as a firm and severe response to countries involved in US military actions against Iran. According to Iranian media reports, the IRGC cautioned nations in West Asia and elsewhere that support or cooperate with such operations to reconsider their actions or risk retaliation.
The reported strike comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. No immediate response from US authorities regarding Iran’s allegations was available.
