Shikha Nehra, Joint Director in the Punjab Information and Public Relations Department, retired from service on Thursday after completing 35 years of service in the department.
A farewell function was organised to honour her contribution, with senior officials and colleagues recalling her professional commitment, leadership and contribution to strengthening the department over the years.
State Media Head Baltej Singh Pannu described Nehra as a dedicated and fearless officer who discharged her responsibilities with sincerity and professionalism throughout her career. He said her services had been an asset to the department.
Officer on Special Duty (Media) to the Chief Minister Amanjot Singh termed her a role model for young public relations professionals, saying she consistently mentored and guided officers at every stage of their careers.
Special Secretary-cum-Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Puneet Goyal extended his best wishes to Nehra for her post-retirement life and said her professional competence and humane approach would be remembered by the department.
Reflecting on her career, Nehra recalled joining the department as an Assistant Public Relations Officer (APRO) in 1991 and spoke about the significant technological transformation witnessed in the functioning of the department over the past three and a half decades. She also thanked the department and her colleagues for the warm farewell accorded to her.
On the occasion, senior officials felicitated Nehra in recognition of her long and dedicated service.
The farewell ceremony was attended by Deputy Secretary Deepankar Garg, Additional Director Randeep Singh Ahluwalia, Joint Directors Preet Kanwal Singh, Ishwinder Singh Grewal and Manvinder Singh, Deputy Directors Rashim Verma, Ruchi Kalra, Navdeep Singh Gill, Prabhdeep Singh, Hakam Thapar, Sherjung Singh Hundal and Narinder Pal Singh Jagdeo, along with members of Nehra’s family, PROs, APROs, DPROs and other department staff.
