Haryana is implementing the ‘SAMRIDDHI’ system to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and ensure timely, quality healthcare for pregnant women, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Sunday.
Under the initiative, every pregnant woman in the state will be registered on the SAMRIDDHI portal and her health will be monitored throughout pregnancy, delivery and the post-partum period.
Saini said the SAMRIDDHI portal, a state-level command centre and the proposed 102 Maternal and Child Health Call Centre would be integrated through modern technology. The system is intended to enable early identification of high-risk pregnancies and ensure timely referrals to higher-level health facilities when necessary.
Every pregnant woman will receive a unique identity under the system, with pregnancy-related health information securely maintained in a single digital record. The system will cover women receiving treatment at government and private hospitals as well as medical colleges.
The Chief Minister said the digital record would be updated irrespective of the hospital where a woman receives treatment, allowing healthcare authorities to maintain a comprehensive record throughout the pregnancy.
Under SAMRIDDHI, high-risk pregnancies will be identified at an early stage. Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), doctors and other health officials will receive alerts regarding required examinations, expected deliveries, follow-ups and other services.
Women with normal pregnancies will be contacted every three months, while those identified as high-risk will receive more frequent monitoring. As the expected date of delivery approaches, the frequency of contact and monitoring will be increased to facilitate immediate assistance in emergencies.
Saini said the state-level 102 Maternal and Child Health Call Centre would be staffed by trained nurses who would provide healthcare guidance, identify potential risks and help pregnant women reach appropriate health facilities when required.
If a woman is identified through the call centre as having a high-risk condition, the information will be immediately shared with the command centre and updated on the SAMRIDDHI portal.
