The Punjab Government will organise a series of drone shows across the state as part of year-long celebrations marking the 650th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj, with six shows scheduled across Jalandhar district next month.
Punjab Horticulture, Freedom Fighters and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat and Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department Adviser Deepak Bali reviewed preparations with officials and members of the Sant Samaj at the District Administrative Complex in Jalandhar.
The organisers said the drone shows would use spectacular aerial visuals to portray the life, philosophy and teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj and familiarise people with his message.
The six shows in Jalandhar district will cover Jalandhar city as well as Nakodar, Shahkot, Phillaur, Adampur and Kartarpur areas.
Bhagat and Bali said the state government had undertaken a large-scale initiative to commemorate the 650th Parkash Purb. As part of the celebrations, documentary screenings, plantation drives, kirtan darbars, seminars and marathons have already been organised.
The next phase will feature drone shows, cyclothons, Shobha Yatras and other programmes, which will continue until the end of 2026.
According to the organisers, the celebrations are aimed at taking the teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj to a wider audience and promoting a society based on universal brotherhood, social equality and harmony.
MLAs Balkar Singh and Inderjit Kaur Mann, Punjab State Cooperative Agricultural Development Bank Chairman Pawan Kumar Tinu, Punjab Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department Director Sanjeev Tiwari, Deputy Commissioner Varjit Walia, and senior AAP leaders Pinder Pandori, Sajjan Singh Cheema, Rajwinder Kaur Thiara and Harjot Kaur were present during the meeting.
Prominent members of the Sant Samaj, including Sant Nirmal Dass Ji of Jauriwale, Behen Santosh Ji and Sant Satwinder Hira Ji of Khuralgarh Sahib, welcomed the government’s initiative and assured their full cooperation in the celebrations.
