India’s Sachin Siwach clinched the men’s 60kg boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after edging Namibia’s Tryagain Morni Ndevelo in a closely fought final in Glasgow on Saturday.
Sachin secured a narrow 3-2 split decision victory in a high-intensity contest where both boxers battled fiercely across all three rounds. The judges’ scorecards reflected the closeness of the bout, with three officials favouring the Indian while two gave the verdict in favour of Ndevelo.
The Indian boxer displayed excellent composure and tactical discipline throughout the contest, matching his opponent’s aggression while maintaining control under pressure. Despite the bout remaining evenly poised until the final bell, Sachin’s consistency helped him secure the majority decision.
The victory completed a memorable unbeaten campaign for Sachin, who delivered when it mattered most to become a Commonwealth Games champion.
Sachin’s gold medal further strengthened India’s impressive boxing performance in Glasgow. His triumph was the eighth boxing medal for India at the Games, with the country’s boxers winning six gold and two silver medals on Saturday.
Earlier, Arundhati Choudhary, Priya, Sakshi, Preeti and Jaismine had secured gold medals, while Lovlina Borgohain and Jadumani Singh claimed silver medals.
The strong boxing show, combined with India’s achievements in men’s shot put F57 and judo, helped the country rise to fourth position in the overall medal standings with 35 medals, including 11 gold, 16 silver and eight bronze.
India’s boxing campaign is set to continue, with several more pugilists reaching the finals and aiming to add further medals to the country’s record-breaking tally.
