Nationalist Congress Party (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar on Friday accused the Maharashtra government of deliberately shielding VSR Aviation in the investigation into the plane crash that killed former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, saying he would present evidence to support his allegations next week.
Ajit Pawar died on January 28, 2026, after a VSR Aviation aircraft crashed and caught fire near the Baramati airport runway while landing. Seven months after the incident, Rohit Pawar questioned the progress of the investigation and alleged that authorities had failed to pursue the matter adequately.
In a social media post, the Karjat-Jamkhed MLA raised questions over what he described as procedural and legal delays in the case.
“It has been seven months since Ajitdada passed away, yet the State CID investigation has made no progress, nor has the case been handed over to the CBI. A basic FIR has not been registered, and even the FIR filed in Karnataka has not been transferred by the Maharashtra government,” he said.
Rohit Pawar further alleged that efforts were being made to protect VSR Aviation and announced that he would make what he described as a detailed disclosure.
“Who is making such frantic efforts to protect VSR Aviation, and why? I will expose everything with proof in a press conference on September 4,” he said.
The NCP (SP) legislator also referred to questions he had previously raised over financial disbursements to VSR Aviation. He claimed that Rs 145 crore was disbursed to the private aviation company between January and March.
According to his allegation, Rs 15.72 crore was cleared a day before the crash, Rs 9.81 crore on the day of the incident and another Rs 16.86 crore the following day.
Rohit Pawar questioned the increase in payments, claiming that monthly billing for such services had generally averaged around Rs 10 crore.
His allegations have not been independently established in the material provided. The crash investigation and the questions surrounding the alleged financial transactions remain the subject of political scrutiny.
