Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday highlighted what he described as a major transformation in Punjab’s government schools, saying institutions equipped with modern infrastructure and advanced facilities are now giving leading private schools across the country strong competition.
Kejriwal shared videos on X of government schools in Ludhiana, Sangrur and Nawanshahr, showcasing facilities including modern infrastructure, laboratories, smart boards, swimming pools and quality playgrounds.
He credited the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government with improving the education system and said the upgraded schools were providing children from both affluent and economically weaker families access to quality education.
“Even private schools fall short when compared to these schools. These government schools are transforming the face of education in Punjab,” Kejriwal said.
Highlighting the scale of the initiative, he claimed that thousands of such schools had been built across Punjab.
“People will find it hard to believe that these can actually be government schools. They are beating even the best private schools in the country,” he said.
Kejriwal also emphasised the impact of improved government education on children from economically weaker sections.
“I feel extremely happy that we have done work that is enabling children from poor families to receive the best possible education,” he said.
He added that children from families of labourers, rickshaw pullers, plumbers, electricians and lower-middle-class households were now pursuing professional careers.
“The children of labourers, rickshaw pullers, plumbers, electricians, lower middle-class families and the poor are now becoming doctors and engineers,” Kejriwal said.
