A three-member search committee has recommended three names for the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ram Temple, leaving the final decision to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The committee, comprising retired Lt General Vishnu Kant Chaturvedi, former scientist Suresh Haware and retired Justice Pramod Kohli, submitted its report to the Trust on Tuesday. The temple trust is scheduled to meet on Wednesday to consider the recommendations.
Trust Treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj thanked the committee members for their efforts and said the recommendations would be considered at the meeting. Asked whether the CEO’s name would be announced after the meeting, he said the decision rested with the Trust, although he was hopeful of an announcement.
Justice Kohli described the assignment as an opportunity that required transparency and fairness. He said the committee received 5,585 applications between July 11 and 18, making the initial scrutiny a substantial exercise.
The committee subsequently developed a 600-mark Google Form to assess candidates against eligibility criteria. Of the applicants, 3,570 responded, and those securing more than 60 per cent were considered for further evaluation.
According to Justice Kohli, 108 candidates scored at least 470 marks out of 600 and were shortlisted for virtual interactions conducted over four days. The committee then invited 17 candidates for physical interaction at Ayodhya Dham, of whom 16 appeared.
The candidates were assessed on multiple parameters, including their vision and understanding of issues, before the committee finalised and recommended three names it considered most suitable for the post.
Justice Kohli said he and the other committee members felt “fortunate and grateful to Lord Ram” for being entrusted with the selection process.
The Trust will take the final decision on the appointment of the temple’s first CEO at its scheduled meeting on Wednesday.
