The Punjab Government on Tuesday ordered the postings and transfers of eight IPS officers with immediate effect on administrative grounds, bringing changes at the Commissionerate and district police leadership levels.
According to an order issued by the Department of Home Affairs, Harmanbir Singh, IPS, presently DIG, Border Range, Amritsar, and holding the additional charge of Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, has been posted as Commissioner of Police, Amritsar.
Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, IPS, who was awaiting posting, has been appointed IGP, Border Range, Amritsar, replacing Harmanbir Singh.
Bhagirath Singh Meena, IPS, presently SSP Mansa, has been transferred and posted as AIG, Personnel-1, CPO, Punjab, replacing Suhail Qasim Mir.
Varun Sharma, IPS, presently SSP Patiala, has been transferred and posted as SSP SAS Nagar, replacing Harmandeep Singh Hans.
Harmandeep Singh Hans, IPS, presently SSP SAS Nagar, has been transferred and posted as SSP Patiala, replacing Varun Sharma.
Suhail Qasim Mir, IPS, presently AIG, Personnel-1, CPO, Punjab, has been transferred and posted as SSP Bathinda, replacing Jyoti Yadav.
Jyoti Yadav, IPS, presently SSP Bathinda, has been transferred and posted as Commandant, 82nd Battalion, PAP, Chandigarh, replacing Balwinder Singh, PPS.
Vaibhav Choudhary, IPS, presently SP Headquarters, Patiala, has been transferred and posted as SSP Mansa, replacing Bhagirath Singh Meena.
The officers concerned have been directed to join their new places of posting immediately.
The order, dated September 1, 2026, was issued by Additional Chief Secretary to Government of Punjab, Department of Home Affairs, Alok Shekhar, with the approval of the competent authority.
