The flight departed Dammam at 10:25 a.m. IST and landed in Ahmedabad at 4:22 p.m. after the threat was reported while the aircraft was en route to Delhi.
Following the landing, the aircraft was moved to an isolated area of the airport as security agencies initiated detailed safety checks.
According to reports, a crew member discovered a tissue paper in the aircraft’s lavatory bearing the word “bomb”. The crew alerted the pilot, who informed air traffic control and sought permission to divert the flight to Ahmedabad as a precautionary measure.
After the aircraft landed safely, passengers and crew members were subjected to the prescribed security procedures. Authorities began preparations for a thorough inspection of the aircraft, including its cabin, baggage and other areas.
Personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and bomb disposal teams were deployed as part of the security response. Airport terminal staff also began a sanitisation process while the aircraft remained in the isolated area.
Authorities were also scheduled to conduct a headcount of all passengers and crew members as part of the security protocol.
There were no immediate reports of injuries. Initial checks, according to local reports, did not reveal any suspicious or explosive material. However, security agencies continued to examine the aircraft and investigate the origin and credibility of the threat.
The incident comes amid heightened security protocols routinely activated at airports and by airlines following reports of potential threats. Authorities are expected to determine the source of the message and establish whether it constituted a genuine security threat.
