According to a notification issued by the Commission on Monday, the examination for both regular and backlog vacancies will no longer be conducted after the state Personnel, Administrative Reforms and Official Language Department withdrew its requisitions.
The JSSC said the department communicated the withdrawal through a letter dated July 29 concerning requisitions for both recruitment examinations. Acting on the communication, the Commission formally cancelled the examination.
The recruitment process had been initiated through Advertisement Nos. 15/2023 and 16/2023 for appointments against regular and backlog vacancies. Both advertisements have now been withdrawn.
Sources said the requisitions were withdrawn with the consent of the departments concerned following amendments to the recruitment rules. Once the revised rules come into effect, the government is expected to initiate the recruitment process afresh.
The departments will submit fresh requisitions for vacant posts, following which the JSSC will issue a new recruitment notification.
Officials indicated that the number of vacancies in the fresh recruitment drive could be higher than the 836 posts notified earlier. However, the exact number will be known only after the Commission receives the revised requisitions.
The cancellation is likely to disappoint thousands of aspirants who had been awaiting the examination schedule and subsequent stages of the selection process.
Candidates will now have to wait for the fresh recruitment exercise to be announced under the revised rules.
