Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao on Monday informed the state Assembly that approval has been granted for admission to 50 MBBS seats at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rewari, for the 2026-27 academic session.
The minister was responding to a question during Question Hour.
She said Haryana has two major institutions associated with the Central government’s AIIMS network — the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at Badhsa in Jhajjar and AIIMS Rewari at Majra.
The NCI at Badhsa is the second campus of AIIMS New Delhi and is a dedicated tertiary-care facility focused on cancer treatment, prevention, early detection, research and human resource development.
AIIMS Rewari is being established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) as the country’s 22nd AIIMS. It will have a medical college and the status of an institute of national importance. The Centre has approved admission of 50 MBBS students for the 2026-27 session.
In another response, Public Health Engineering Minister Ranbir Gangwa said steps were being taken to improve the drinking water supply system in Hisar city.
Replying to a question by MLA Savitri Jindal, Gangwa said Hisar receives water from the Bhakra canal through seven canal-based waterworks. However, some areas have ageing pipelines, resulting in complaints of leakages, pipe bursts and low water pressure.
He said a survey was underway to identify sections of the distribution network requiring replacement or improvement.
Irrigation and Water Resources Minister Shruti Choudhry, responding to another question, said irrigation water supply through canals in the Adampur and Nalwa Assembly constituencies had been ensured.
She said around 48 canals and channels fall within the two constituencies. Except Basra Sub-Minor No. II, for which rehabilitation has been approved, the remaining 47 channels are receiving water up to their tail-ends according to the approved rotation schedule.
Seventeen channels in Nalwa and four channels shared by both constituencies are being operated under the schedule, with eight days of operation followed by a 16-day canal closure.
Energy Minister Anil Vij also informed the Assembly that Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (UHBVNL) would replace all iron poles, including tubular and channel poles, with PCC poles at its own cost.
