Speculation that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has been roped in as the lead for the much-awaited Race 4 has been put to rest, with producer Ramesh Taurani clarifying that the cast of the fourth instalment of the popular franchise has not yet been finalised.
Taurani shared an official statement on Instagram urging the media and social media platforms to refrain from circulating unverified reports about the film’s casting.
“We would like to clarify that the cast of Race 4 has not yet been finalized. We sincerely request the media and social media pages to refrain from speculation and from engaging with or circulating any unverified or false news regarding the cast,” the statement said.
The makers added that an official announcement would be made once the casting is finalised and asked audiences and media organisations to wait for confirmation before sharing any information.
“The #Race4 cast is yet to be finalised. Stay tuned for the official announcement,” they captioned the post.
Several names have previously been linked to Race 4. In January, reports suggested that Akshaye Khanna, who featured in the first Race, would return for the fourth film. Taurani, however, denied the reports and said the actor had not been approached, adding that Khanna’s storyline in the franchise had already concluded.
There have also been reports that Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff were narrated the script for Race 4, but no casting has been officially confirmed.
The franchise began with Race in 2008, starring Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif and Anil Kapoor. It was followed by Race 2 in 2013 and Race 3 in 2018.
