The UAE Ministry of Defence said the country’s Armed Forces remained on high alert to deal with any potential threats, while air defence systems continued to monitor and protect the nation’s airspace around the clock, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The development came after Iran’s Army claimed it had launched dozens of drones targeting US helicopters and personnel stationed at Al Minhad Air Base in the UAE.
According to Iranian state television, the Iranian Army said the strikes were carried out early Monday in response to what it described as recent aggression and in retaliation for the deaths of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) personnel and Iranian civilians on Larak Island.
The Iranian Army said it had targeted “the locations of the helicopters and forces” of the US military at Al Minhad with dozens of attack drones.
Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that the Iranian Army described Al Minhad as an important base for supporting and transporting foreign forces.
The Iranian military also said it remained prepared to protect Iran’s security until what it termed the enemy threat was removed from the region and vowed to retaliate against US forces over the deaths of those killed in the conflict.
The statement followed a declaration by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that it had carried out retaliatory strikes against US military positions in the region.
Meanwhile, the UAE Defence Ministry said its air force had responded after an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was detected over the country’s territorial waters while approaching from Iran.
The ministry reiterated that the UAE Armed Forces were prepared to respond to any potential threats as its air defence systems continued round-the-clock surveillance of the country’s airspace.
