A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Goa made an emergency return to the airport shortly after take-off on Tuesday after the aircraft developed a technical issue.
IndiGo flight 6E 2102 departed from North Goa at 9:16 a.m. but turned back after the crew reported the problem. Air Traffic Control declared a full emergency at around 9:30 a.m. as the aircraft headed back towards Manohar International Airport in Goa.
The aircraft landed safely and all passengers were disembarked without injuries. They were accommodated in the boarding area while the airline made arrangements for their onward journey.
In a statement, IndiGo said a technical issue was detected shortly after the flight took off. The airline said the crew followed standard operating procedures, informed the relevant authorities and returned the aircraft safely to Manohar International Airport.
The aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance checks and will resume operations after receiving the necessary clearances, the airline said.
“We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers and made every effort to minimise it, including offering refreshments and timely updates,” an IndiGo spokesperson said.
The airline added that alternative arrangements had been made for passengers to reach their destination.
“The safety of our customers, crew, and aircraft remains our top priority at IndiGo,” it said.
The incident comes after IndiGo faced technical disruptions to its website last month, with some passengers reporting difficulties booking flights, completing web check-ins and accessing other online services. Some users also experienced problems logging into the airline’s mobile application.
IndiGo had acknowledged those disruptions through a service advisory, saying intermittent issues with its core reservation platform could affect customers’ access to online services. The airline had reported a similar problem with the reservation system two days earlier.
