eteran actor Anupam Kher has shaved off his moustache for his upcoming project, giving fans a glimpse of a new look while admitting that parting with his signature facial hair was not an easy decision.
Sharing pictures of his new avatar on social media, Kher said the change was required for a film and joked that his moustache has always provided him with a sense of comfort.
“I rarely shave off my moustache. It has always given me the comforting feeling that, technically, I do have hair!! But a film demanded a new look, so the moustache had to make the sacrifice,” Kher wrote.
He added that he was pleasantly surprised by how much he liked his appearance without the moustache and asked fans whether he should bring it back or continue with his clean-shaven look for a while.
The actor’s new appearance drew praise from several social media users, with comments describing him as “dashing”, “handsome” and “amazing”. One admirer, however, insisted that his moustache should return.
Earlier on Monday, Kher announced another milestone in his career — his 555th film. Keeping details of the project under wraps, the actor said he was delighted to announce the landmark film and promised to reveal more information at the appropriate time.
Kher’s upcoming projects include Shri Rambhoomi, for which he has completed shooting. He will portray late Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Ashok Singhal in the film.
The veteran actor is also set to feature in Khosla Ka Ghosla 2 and an upcoming drama by filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya.
