Katrina Kaif Wins Best Actor for Merry Christmas at Indie Film Festival Awards – New York

Bollywood superstar Katrina Kaif has been awarded Best Actor (Female) for her performance in Merry Christmas at the Indie Film Festival Awards – New York, as the winners for Hindi-language films of 2024 were officially announced.

The much-anticipated event, known for spotlighting excellence in independent and world cinema, brought together standout storytellers from across the globe. Katrina’s role in Merry Christmas was widely praised for its depth, restraint, and emotional precision—marking one of her most compelling performances to date.

Known for her dynamic trajectory across genres, Katrina Kaif continues to evolve as an artist with a distinctive voice. Merry Christmas offered her a powerful canvas to explore an unfamiliar emotional territory, further highlighting her ability to take on complex, layered characters with confidence and authenticity.

The Indie Film Festival Awards also celebrated other outstanding contributors from Indian cinema: Kartik Aaryan was named Best Actor (Male) for Chandu Champion, which also won Best Film. Binny and Family took home the award for Best Family Film, while Siddharth Anand was honoured with Best Director for Fighter.

The award for Best OTT Special went to Imtiaz Ali for Chamkila. In the debut categories, Anjini Dhawan won Best Debutant Female for Binny and Family, and Abhay Verma was awarded Best Debutant Male for Munjya. Pratibha Ranta was recognised as the Rising Star for her performance in Laapataa Ladies.
