Actor Yash has revealed the unique method he adopted to immerse himself in the role of Lankesh (Ravana) for the upcoming epic film Ramayana, saying he regularly played devotional songs dedicated to Lord Shiva at high volume to enter the character’s psychological space.
Speaking during the Ramayana team’s appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Yash shared insights into his preparation for portraying one of Indian mythology’s most iconic characters. Since Ravana is revered in mythology as an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, the actor said music became an important part of his process.
Recalling his experience in an interview with Review Nation, Yash said he unintentionally transformed the atmosphere on the film’s set by remaining intensely focused during filming.
“I kind of spoiled the whole atmosphere of the set. I used to be very serious. I used to get big speakers and just play music at full volume. So, I used to be in that zone. I used to play Shiva songs,” he said.
Explaining the reason behind the practice, the actor added, “Ravana is a big devotee of Lord Shiva. I used to play that and I wanted to be in that trance. Forcefully, all of them would talk with a lot of difficulty because the music used to be so loud.”
Earlier this week, the makers hosted a special event titled Pratham Sankalp in New Delhi ahead of the film’s planned trailer launch. The event marked the ceremonial beginning of Ramayana‘s journey from India to a global audience and brought together the film’s principal cast for the first time in public.
During the event, actor Ranbir Kapoor was seen seeking the blessings of veteran actor Sunny Deol and poet Kumar Vishwas by touching their feet before greeting them on stage.
The film’s trailer launch, originally scheduled for July 24, was subsequently postponed amid nationwide student protests demanding the resignation of former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
