India completed a dominant 3-0 T20I series sweep against Zimbabwe after a clinical all-round performance secured a 35-run victory in the third and final match at the Harare Sports Club on Sunday.
Fast bowler Mayank Yadav was the standout performer with figures of 3-29, dismantling Zimbabwe’s chase with express pace and accurate variations. The win also marked new T20I captain Shreyas Iyer’s first series sweep as India skipper.
Batting first, India posted a challenging 192/5 on a slow surface, powered by teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s sensational 81-run knock. The young batter set the foundation for India’s imposing total, while Ishan Kishan contributed a valuable 29.
Zimbabwe’s chase never gained momentum as Mayank struck with the very first delivery of the innings, dismissing Brian Bennett after a sharp catch by Sooryavanshi at first slip. The pacer once again showcased his ability to trouble batters with raw pace, regularly crossing the 140 kmph mark.
Yash Thakur further tightened India’s grip by claiming two wickets in the fourth over, removing Dion Myers and Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza. His stunning one-handed catch to dismiss Raza was one of the highlights of the match.
Despite a fighting unbeaten 54 off 42 balls from Ryan Burl, Zimbabwe managed only 157/7 in their 20 overs. Wessly Madhevere scored 28 and briefly rebuilt the innings with Burl, but India’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout.
Mayank ended Zimbabwe’s hopes by dismissing Madhevere and Brad Evans, while Abhishek Sharma picked up his first international wicket by removing Tadiwanashe Marumani.
For Zimbabwe, Brad Evans took 2-41 and Blessing Muzarabani claimed 1-33, but India’s strong batting effort and disciplined bowling proved decisive.
