Actors Alia Bhatt and Sonakshi Sinha have praised Generation Z following the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan as Union Education Minister amid nationwide student protests over alleged irregularities in competitive examinations.
Sonakshi Sinha shared a video on Instagram applauding the student-led movement, saying the younger generation had inspired her with its determination and impact.
“You have no idea what you have done today… Salute. Look at me now. I want to be you. I want to be Gen Z,” the actress said in the video.
Alia Bhatt also reacted to the development through her Instagram Stories, writing: “Gen Z showed up! The rest is history.”
Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday after weeks of protests demanding accountability over alleged examination irregularities, particularly the NEET-UG paper leak. He has been succeeded by Pralhad Joshi as the Union Education Minister.
The protests gained momentum after police action against demonstrators at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 20, triggering demonstrations in several cities across the country.
The agitation had also drawn support from social activist Sonam Wangchuk, who undertook an indefinite hunger strike seeking the Education Minister’s resignation over the alleged examination irregularities. He was later shifted to a hospital after police intervened, citing his deteriorating health and medical advice.
