Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, will visit Tamil Nadu on August 1, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) President K. Manickam Tagore announced on Sunday.
Tagore shared the announcement on social media platform X after All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal confirmed Rahul Gandhi’s proposed visit.
The detailed itinerary and schedule of the Congress leader’s visit are yet to be announced. However, the Tamil Nadu Congress has started preparations to welcome Rahul Gandhi, with party workers and supporters expected to participate in the programme.
Welcoming the visit, Tagore said the entire Congress organisation in Tamil Nadu was looking forward to receiving Rahul Gandhi. He said the interaction would provide fresh encouragement to party cadres and strengthen the party’s connect with people across the state.
Tagore highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s focus on issues such as constitutional values, democratic institutions, social justice and opportunities for young people, saying these concerns continue to motivate Congress workers.
The TNCC chief said the visit would energise grassroots-level functionaries and volunteers as the party prepares for its upcoming political programmes in Tamil Nadu.
He added that Rahul Gandhi’s engagement with party workers would further strengthen the Congress organisation in the state. Tagore also reiterated the party’s long-term political goal of expanding its support base across the country and expressed hope that Rahul Gandhi would lead the nation as Prime Minister after the 2029 general elections.
Further details about Rahul Gandhi’s engagements, meetings and public interactions during his August 1 visit are expected to be announced by the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee soon.
