Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan reflected on the distinctive bond between siblings during the latest episode of the reality quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, saying that while brothers and sisters may constantly quarrel, they are often the first to support each other in difficult times.
The veteran actor, who hosts the show, described sibling relationships as unique, marked by both playful rivalry and unwavering support when it matters most.
“Bhai-behen ka joh rishta hota hai na bada anokha hota hai… Ek doosre se ladte bhi hain aur ek doosre ki taang bhi kheechte hain, lekin zaroorat pade toh sabse pehle saath bhi wahi khade rehte hain,” Bachchan said.
He then spoke about a familiar dynamic in many families — the younger children often receiving more leniency than their older siblings.
“Jo ghar ka chhota hota hai na, toh kyunki woh chhota hai, sab log usko maaf kar dete hain aur jitne bade hain na usse, unko itni maar padti hai… Kuchh bhi karenge woh, lekin unko kuchh nahi bola jata hai,” he said.
Bachchan also drew from his own family experience while discussing the subject. He recalled how younger family members could trouble the older ones but still escape reprimands.
“Hamare bhi, Sir aisa hi hai. Jo chhote the, humko bahot maarte the, idhar-udhar karte the, unko kuchh nahi bola jata tha,” he recalled.
His comments offered a light-hearted glimpse into the dynamics of growing up with siblings, highlighting the mix of affection, teasing, disagreements and protective support that often defines such relationships.
