Prof Arvind K. Bansal has assumed charge as the 21st Vice Chancellor of I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), formally taking over at the university’s Mohali campus on August 25.
Following his appointment, Prof Bansal visited the university’s main campus on the Jalandhar-Kapurthala highway on Friday and interacted with senior officials to understand the functioning of various departments and review the institution’s academic and administrative priorities.
During a meeting with Registrar Dr Navdeepak Sandhu, the Vice Chancellor reviewed the priority assignments of different departments and discussed measures to strengthen the university’s academic and research ecosystem.
Prof Bansal outlined his vision of positioning IKGPTU as a centre of excellence in technical education, with emphasis on interdisciplinary learning, global standards, stronger collaborations and student-centric initiatives.
During interactions with university officials, he stressed the need for greater efficiency, transparency and innovation in academic and administrative processes.
He also called for expanding research collaborations with premier institutions and industry partners to promote innovation and facilitate knowledge transfer.
Student development was another key area highlighted by the Vice Chancellor. He emphasised initiatives aimed at strengthening skills, entrepreneurship and the overall development of students.
The university’s faculty, officers and staff welcomed Prof Bansal’s engagement with the institution’s functioning and expressed confidence that his leadership would provide fresh direction and further strengthen IKGPTU’s role in higher technical education.
