Punjab Police conducted 572 raids across the state on Friday as part of the ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, arresting 330 people and recovering three weapons from locations linked to gangster associates.
The statewide anti-gangster campaign, launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, aims to make Punjab free of gangster activities. Police teams from all districts have been conducting coordinated operations in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
With Friday’s arrests, the total number of people arrested under the campaign has reached 65,657.
Police also took preventive action against 200 individuals and arrested five proclaimed offenders (POs) during the day’s operations.
The Punjab Police has appealed to people to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946. Information can be provided anonymously.
Meanwhile, the police continued their anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, for the 545th consecutive day. Fifty-four alleged drug smugglers were arrested during the day, with police recovering 3.9 kg of heroin, 10 kg of poppy husk, 80 intoxicant pills and Rs 900 in suspected drug proceeds.
The latest arrests have taken the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the 545-day campaign to 76,605, according to the police.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded six individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Friday.
The two campaigns continue to form part of the state police’s wider efforts to tackle organised crime and drug trafficking while encouraging rehabilitation of people affected by substance abuse.
