BLF Claims Responsibility for Attacks on Pakistani Forces, State-Backed Operatives

The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks targeting Pakistani security forces and alleged state-backed operatives across Balochistan, claiming that 11 military personnel and two members of a “state-backed death squad” were killed.

According to the Balochistan-based news network Balochistan Post, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the group carried out an attack on August 22 against a Pakistani military road security unit in the Kolwah-Gishkor area of Awaran.

The spokesperson claimed that five military personnel were killed and three others injured in the attack. He also alleged that vehicles involved in road construction work were targeted and that BLF fighters later opened fire on a military helicopter that arrived in the area following the attack.

The BLF also claimed that its fighters took control of a police checkpoint in Shirin-o-Farhad on the same day.

According to the statement, police personnel stationed at the checkpoint were detained, while a Kalashnikov rifle and other equipment were seized. The checkpoint, along with two police vehicles and a motorcycle, was subsequently set on fire, the group claimed. The detained personnel were later released, it said.

The separatist group further claimed responsibility for the killing of two men it described as members of a “state-backed death squad” during vehicle inspections on the Bela-Jhaoo Road after establishing a road blockade.

The two men were identified in the statement as Mohammad, son of Noor Mohammad, and his son Zafar, residents of Waja Bagh in Jhaoo. The BLF claimed that weapons were seized from the two men and their motorcycle was set on fire.

The spokesperson also levelled several allegations against Zafar, claiming that he was involved in criminal activities and had been cooperating with Pakistani military forces.
