Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana: 104 Helpline Keeps Punjab Govt Connected With Patients After Discharge

Chandigarh, August 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

For beneficiaries of Punjab’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana (MMSY), healthcare support does not necessarily end with discharge from hospital. The state’s 104 Health Helpline follows up with patients after treatment to seek feedback, check their recovery and find out whether they received the medicines and care required after returning home.

For Hardev Singh of Mansa, the follow-up call came after he received orthopaedic treatment at District Hospital, Bathinda, under the cashless healthcare scheme.

“I got the cashless treatment under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, and then they called to ask if I was alright,” he said.

Hardev said the 104 team enquired about his treatment, health, any difficulties he had faced and whether he had received his medicines. The follow-up, he said, gave him a sense that the health system remained concerned about his well-being even after he left the hospital.

Baldev Singh of Hoshiarpur, who underwent orthopaedic treatment at Sub-Divisional Hospital, Dasuya, reported a similar experience. He said he received treatment without making any payment, was provided the medicines required after discharge and later received a call from the 104 team.

“I received my treatment without paying anything, got the medicines I needed after discharge, and then the 104 team called to check on me. It feels good when the government does not forget you after you leave the hospital,” Baldev said.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh said the post-treatment contact was intended to make patient feedback an integral part of healthcare delivery.

“The 104 Helpline brings the health system back into that journey. Beneficiaries are contacted after treatment and asked about their experience, hospitalisation, treatment records, medicines after discharge and satisfaction with the care received,” he said.

The follow-up calls provide patients an opportunity to report their experience directly and allow the health system to identify concerns arising after treatment. The feedback can also help authorities assess the quality of care and address issues, where required.

Dr Balbir Singh said healthcare should extend beyond the point of discharge.

“At Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana it continues when we call the beneficiary, listen to the patient’s experience and take that feedback back to the system. Our aim is to provide treatment, follow-up, get feedback and take action if required, so that every patient feels heard and every voice helps us make Punjab’s healthcare better,” he said.

The 104 Health Helpline also provides free medical consultation and guidance, psychological and de-addiction counselling, grievance redressal, and information about government health schemes, including eligibility and assistance available under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana.
