IndiGo Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of airline IndiGo, has invested in Sarvam, an Indian full-stack sovereign artificial intelligence (AI) company, as part of its Series B funding round, the airline said on Friday.
The investment builds on an existing partnership between IndiGo and Sarvam focused on deploying AI to improve customer experience, increase employee productivity and simplify complex operational workflows across the airline.
The companies aim to combine IndiGo’s aviation expertise, operational scale and real-world use cases with Sarvam’s capabilities in AI models, voice technologies and agentic systems. The partnership is intended to provide a long-term platform for developing and scaling AI applications across the airline.
Aviation presents significant opportunities for enterprise AI because of its large volume of customer interactions, time-sensitive operations and geographically distributed workforce. IndiGo and Sarvam plan to develop and assess AI applications across customer service, employee productivity and airline operations.
Successful applications could subsequently be expanded across IndiGo’s network.
“Artificial Intelligence is fast becoming a foundational capability for the aviation industry, reshaping customer experience, workforce productivity and operational decision-making,” said Neetan Chopra, Chief Digital and Information Officer at IndiGo.
He said the partnership would give IndiGo access to advanced AI capabilities developed in India and tailored to market requirements.
Sarvam develops technology spanning training and inference infrastructure, frontier AI models and enterprise AI products. Its portfolio covers text, speech, vision and documents, with a focus on secure deployment in complex, high-volume environments.
Pratyush Kumar, Co-founder of Sarvam, said aviation was a strong environment for enterprise AI because it combines millions of customer interactions with complex and time-sensitive operations.
He said IndiGo’s scale and industry expertise would help identify areas where AI could deliver practical value and support the development of systems capable of being deployed in production environments.
The investment further strengthens the relationship between the two companies as they seek to build and scale AI solutions aimed at creating a more technology-enabled and future-ready airline infrastructure.
