Rajasthan Elderly Couple Murder: Neighbour Allegedly Masterminds Robbery Plot, Bodies Found in Bed Storage Box

Jaipur, August 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

The Rajasthan Police have solved the murder of an elderly couple in Punavali village, under Saira police station limits, arresting five people and detaining another suspect in connection with a robbery allegedly planned by the couple’s neighbour.

The deceased, identified as Lahrilal Paliwal and his wife Radhabai, were found dead inside the storage compartment of a bed at their home on August 14. District Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan said the alleged mastermind was their neighbour, Kushal alias Khushi Paliwal.

According to police, Lahrilal’s son Manohar Lal, who lives in Gujarat, had spoken to his mother by phone on the night of August 11. When the couple could not be located the following day, relatives and others began searching for them. Their bodies were subsequently discovered inside a bedding box in the house.

Police said Kushal had allegedly been planning the crime for about 18 months amid financial difficulties arising from loans taken from individuals and banks. Investigators said he knew the couple often stayed alone and allegedly kept cash and jewellery at home.

The alleged conspiracy began taking shape on August 9, when Kushal arrived in Punavali with Chandan Yadav, Vikas Kharwad and Dilip Chaudhary. Police said the group conducted a recce of the house before travelling towards Panariyo Madri via Gogunda. They later stayed at a hotel near the Gogunda toll plaza, where the alleged plan was finalised.

Kushal subsequently allegedly involved his cousins Kishan Paliwal and Jeevan Paliwal. On August 10, he and Chandan visited the couple’s house. Police said Kushal concealed a hammer found inside the house under his clothes but abandoned the attempt after noticing movement around the premises.

The following morning, the two returned but found the door locked. Later that night, Kishan and Jeevan allegedly went to the house on the pretext of showing a horoscope. While Lahrilal was upstairs, police said they distracted Radhabai, enabling Kushal to enter and hide in a bathroom. He later instructed the two men to leave.

Police allege that Kushal subsequently opened the door for Chandan, Dilip and Vikas. Lahrilal was allegedly killed upstairs with a hammer blow to the head, while Radhabai was allegedly strangled while sleeping downstairs.

The accused allegedly placed both bodies in plastic bags and concealed them inside the bed’s storage compartment under bedding. Using Radhabai’s keys, they allegedly opened a wardrobe and stole cash and jewellery. The couple’s mobile phones were also allegedly taken and later discarded on a highway while switched on.

Investigators said the suspects attempted to make it appear that the couple had left the house voluntarily.

Police analysed call records and mobile-phone location data and questioned local residents during the investigation. Technical leads subsequently focused attention on a suspicious vehicle allegedly seen in the area on the nights of August 9, 10 and 11, and again around 5 a.m. on August 12. Its movement was also recorded at the Kherwara toll plaza.

The arrested accused have been identified as Kushal alias Khushi Paliwal, 26, of Punavali and currently residing in Surat; Chandan Yadav, 27, of Samastipur, Bihar, currently residing in Surat; Dilip Chaudhary, 30, of Surat; and cousins Kishan Paliwal, 21, and Jeevan Paliwal, 21, both from Punavali.

Police have recovered the vehicle allegedly used in the crime, while a sixth suspect has been detained. The investigation is continuing.
