New Delhi, August 28, 2026 (Yes Punjab News) Apple CEO Tim Cook on Friday expressed solidarity with people affected by the devastating flash floods and mudslides along the Nepal-Tibet border and announced that the company would contribute to relief and rebuilding efforts.
“Our thoughts are with all those affected by the tragic flash floods and mudslides in Nepal and Tibet. Apple is making a donation to support relief and rebuilding efforts on the ground,” Cook said in a post on X.
He did not disclose the amount of the donation or specify the organisations through which the contribution would be routed.
The announcement came as Nepal continued to deal with the aftermath of a massive flash flood triggered by an ice-rock avalanche in the Tibetan region. The sudden surge of water and debris through the transboundary Bhote Koshi River caused widespread destruction downstream.
Several settlements, roads, bridges, hydropower facilities and other critical infrastructure have been damaged in the disaster. Hundreds of people have died, while hundreds more remain unaccounted for, including local residents, tourists and security personnel.
Nepalese authorities have intensified search, rescue and relief operations in the affected districts. Helicopters have been deployed to evacuate stranded people and transport essential relief supplies to areas cut off by the disaster.
The floods have also affected foreign nationals, including Indian tourists. The Indian Embassy in Nepal has issued emergency contact details to assist Indians affected by the disaster, while authorities continue to verify the number of people missing from the affected region.
The Nepal government has designated severely affected areas as disaster crisis-hit zones and initiated efforts to restore damaged infrastructure and provide relief to displaced communities.
India, China and international organisations have also extended or indicated support for rescue, relief and reconstruction efforts as Nepal continues to assess the scale of the devastation.
