The Disciplinary Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Punjab, has issued show-cause notices to three party leaders over statements allegedly contrary to the organisation’s line and discipline during a press conference in Sangrur on August 25.
The notices have been served on Randeep Singh Deol, former BJP Sangrur district president; Maninder Singh Kapial, former BJP Sangrur district president; and Jatinder Kalra, former State Cells Coordinator of BJP Punjab.
According to the notices, the three leaders conducted or participated in the press conference and allegedly made remarks concerning the BJP’s internal affairs and organisational matters that were inconsistent with the party’s established position.
The Disciplinary Committee has observed that such conduct prima facie had an adverse impact on the party’s reputation, credibility and organisational image.
The three leaders have been directed to submit written explanations within seven days of receiving the notices, stating why disciplinary action should not be initiated against them for the alleged violation of party discipline and conduct that could damage the BJP’s reputation.
The notices also seek details of each leader’s role in the press conference, the statements made by them and the purpose behind organising the interaction with the media.
The committee has warned that failure to respond within the stipulated period could lead to appropriate disciplinary action under the Constitution and Rules of the Bharatiya Janata Party, without any further notice.
The notices were issued by Som Parkash, Chairman of the BJP Punjab Disciplinary Committee.
Copies of the notices have been sent to BJP Punjab In-charge Satish Punia, Co-Incharge Dr Narinder Singh Raina, State President S. Kewal Singh Dhillon and General Secretary (Organisation) Manthri Srinivasulu.
