Malayalam actor Nimisha Sajayan has expressed gratitude to director Ambiecka Pandit for trusting her with the lead role of Babita Singh, fondly known as Baby, in the upcoming film ‘Babita Singh Reporting’.
Nimisha shared a heartfelt note on Instagram, thanking Pandit for believing in her ability to portray the complex character and for creating an environment that allowed her to explore the role freely.
“Dear Ambu @ambiecka, Thank you for trusting me with Baby (Babita Singh). I don’t think I have ever truly expressed this to you but today..I just want to thank you for everything you have done,” Nimisha wrote.
The actor said Pandit had believed in her from the beginning and entrusted her with a character that offered considerable scope for exploration.
“Baby gave me so much to explore as an actor and I will always be grateful that you saw me as someone who could bring her to life,” she added.
Nimisha also praised the filmmaker’s approach to directing, describing it as calm yet driven by strength, passion and conviction. She said Pandit gave her the freedom to make mistakes, learn and gradually become the character.
“Thank you for creating a space where I could trust myself..make mistakes,learn and become Baby,” Nimisha wrote, adding that Pandit’s patience and belief in their creative journey meant a great deal to her.
Calling Baby a character that would remain with her for a long time, Nimisha said the role had become particularly close to her heart.
“It has been such a beautiful experience being directed by you and bringing your vision to life. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for believing in me. And thank you for giving me Baby,” she wrote.
‘Babita Singh Reporting’ is set in a small Indian town and follows suspended police officer Babita Singh, known as Baby, as she investigates the murder of her childhood friend. Her search for answers eventually takes her on an unexpected journey of self-discovery.
