Delhi Traffic Police Creates Green Corridor to Rush Liver Transplant Patient to IGI Airport

New Delhi, 5 August 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

In a remarkable display of coordination and commitment to public service, the Delhi Traffic Police created a special Green Corridor to ensure the swift transfer of a liver transplant patient from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport for an urgent medical procedure.

The operation was carried out on Tuesday evening to facilitate the timely movement of a patient identified as Chauhan, who had to board a flight to Hyderabad for a critical liver transplant surgery. The coordinated efforts of traffic personnel ensured that the ambulance passed through heavy peak-hour traffic without delay.

According to the Delhi Traffic Police, information regarding the requirement of a Green Corridor was received around 4.30 pm. Following the alert, personnel from Traffic Circle Karol Bagh immediately initiated the operation.

Head Constable Sunny coordinated with the hospital liaison officer Tarun and created a dedicated WhatsApp group to ensure real-time communication among all officials involved in the route management.

To provide uninterrupted movement to the ambulance, Head Constables Hemraj and Sukhvinder escorted the vehicle on motorcycles, clearing the route ahead. Meanwhile, Head Constable Mahender Singh managed traffic regulation along the designated corridor, while Constables Pradeep Nain and Pankaj monitored live traffic conditions and coordinated with different traffic circles to avoid congestion.

Despite heavy evening traffic in the national capital, the ambulance covered nearly 20 km from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital to Terminal 4 of IGI Airport in just 20 to 22 minutes.

The timely transfer enabled the patient to reach the airport and board the scheduled flight to Hyderabad for the life-saving liver transplant surgery.

The patient’s family expressed gratitude to the Delhi Traffic Police, acknowledging that the prompt action and dedicated efforts played a crucial role in ensuring the patient’s medical journey continued without disruption.

Earlier, the Delhi Traffic Police had created another Green Corridor during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, helping injured Delhi Capitals cricketer Lungi Ngidi reach a hospital from Arun Jaitley Stadium within 11 minutes.
