Religious Leaders Welcome Abolition of VIP Pass System at Ayodhya Ram Temple

Ayodhya, August 5, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

Religious leaders and temple representatives on Wednesday welcomed the decision to abolish the special pass system for visiting the Ram Darbar at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, calling it a significant step towards ensuring equal treatment for all devotees and making the darshan process more accessible.

Reacting to the decision, Ramadal Trust President Kalki Ram described the move as a positive development and urged the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to completely eliminate the VIP culture from the temple premises.

Speaking to IANS, Kalki Ram said every devotee visiting the temple should be treated equally and that no person standing in the general queue should feel discriminated against.

He said the arrangements for persons with disabilities and the daily darshan facility for Ayodhya residents were appropriate, but emphasised that the VIP culture should come to an end.

“At least one temple in India, the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, should remain free from VIP culture. While VIP passes are being discontinued gradually in several temples, the practice itself should end. Devotees come with the same faith and devotion, and preferential treatment should not affect their experience,” he said.

Priest Divakar Acharya also welcomed the decision and questioned the need for a VIP system in temples.

He said those who sacrificed their lives during the Ram Janmabhoomi movement were never differentiated on the basis of identity, caste, religion or financial status.

“Despite this, under the VIP system, some devotees were taken directly for darshan of Lord Shri Ramlalla, while others with equal devotion had to wait in long queues. This decision is highly commendable and deserves appreciation,” he said.

Under the revised arrangement, devotees will no longer require separate passes to visit the Ram Darbar. After completing regular darshan of Ram Lalla through the general queue, devotees can directly proceed to the Ram Darbar located on the first floor of the temple.

Earlier, a limited number of special passes were issued daily for Ram Darbar darshan.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust said the decision was taken to simplify the darshan process and ensure easier access for all devotees.
