Manjit Singh Manauli, father of Punjab Government Information and Public Relations Officer Amanpreet Singh Manauli, was cremated on Wednesday amid the presence of senior officers of the Information and Public Relations Department, members of the media fraternity, relatives and well-wishers.
Manjit Singh Manauli, 72, passed away on Tuesday evening. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
His last rites were performed at the cremation ground in his native village Manauli, where his son, Amanpreet Singh Manauli, lit the funeral pyre.
The Information and Public Relations Department was represented by Additional Director Randeep Singh Ahluwalia, Joint Directors Preet Kanwal Singh and Ishwinder Singh, Deputy Directors Prabhdeep Singh Natthowal and Sherjang Singh Hundal, besides several other departmental officers, who paid floral tributes and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
Representatives of the media fraternity also attended the cremation. Among those present were Punjabi Tribune Chandigarh News Editor Jasvir Samar, senior journalists Karamjit Singh Chhilla, Darshan Singh Sodhi and Daljit Singh, besides several former colleagues and friends of the deceased.
Before joining Punjabi Tribune, Manjit Singh Manauli had served in the Punjab Police. He spent a significant part of his professional career with the newspaper.
The Antim Ardas for the departed soul will be held at Gurdwara Dhakki Sahib, Sector 82 (behind JLPL Office), Airport Road, SAS Nagar (Mohali), on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 12 noon to 2:00 pm.
