Bansuri Swaraj attacks Rahul Gandhi over RSS remarks, questions silence on Jharkhand exam row

New Delhi, August 5, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj on Wednesday criticised Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his remarks against the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing him of pursuing a politics based on allegations rather than offering a constructive agenda.

Swaraj’s comments came after Rahul Gandhi stepped up his criticism of the RSS, alleging that the organisation was attempting “institutional capture”, influencing key institutions and reshaping historical narratives.

Reacting to Gandhi’s remarks, Swaraj said the Congress leader lacked a vision for development and relied on accusations against national and ideological organisations.

“Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi has neither a vision for development nor a positive agenda. His politics is based only on allegations and creating illusions. Due to a lack of facts, he repeatedly targets national and ideological organisations,” she said.

Defending the RSS, the BJP leader said the organisation had contributed to nation-building for nearly a century and had played a role in relief efforts during natural disasters and emergencies.

“The RSS, which has been contributing selflessly to nation-building for the last 100 years and is often the first to undertake relief work during disasters, is repeatedly subjected to baseless allegations by Rahul Gandhi,” Swaraj said.

She accused Gandhi of engaging in divisive politics and claimed that voters had repeatedly rejected the Congress leader and his party’s approach.

The BJP MP’s remarks followed Gandhi’s statements during a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence on Tuesday, where he reportedly raised concerns over the involvement of the RSS in Sainik Schools. At another event, he accused the RSS and BJP of promoting an idea of India that undermined the country’s cultural diversity.

Swaraj also targeted Rahul Gandhi over student-related issues, questioning what she described as his selective response to examination controversies.

Referring to alleged paper leak cases in states governed by parties associated with the INDIA bloc, she asked why Gandhi had not raised those matters.

She said Gandhi was expressing concern over student protests in Delhi while remaining silent on the examination controversy in Jharkhand.
